Regulatory Licences

BMSL Investment Limited is a full-fledged merchant bank, licensed and regulated by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and regulated by the Bangladesh Bank. The firm was established in 1997.

The merchant banking licence is what permits the firm to manage public and rights offerings, to underwrite equity and debt issues, to manage portfolios and registered funds, and to advise on corporate transactions. Each of those activities is carried out under the BSEC framework that governs it, and public offering work additionally under the rules of the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.

BMSL Investment Limited sits within a wider financial services group. United Financial Trading Company Limited and BMSL Asset Management Company Limited are separate companies, each holding its own authorisation and carrying its own regulatory obligations. A mandate placed with one of them is placed with that company, not with the group.
